An Invitation

Something Special to Give and Take

During the pandemic a small group of us decided to meet virtually to encourage each other in our individual endeavors to support our social justice goals within our community. Some of us were members of a social ministry group in our local church, Santa Catalina Catholic Church in Tucson, AZ.

Most of our members are located in the Tucson area with one from New Mexico. We realize that there may be others across the country who are ready to share and learn from others outside their immediate community.

We would like to invite you to consider joining us. We meet the third Thursday of every month at 1:00 PM Mountain time. Email us at FellowshipforSJ@outlook.com  if you have any questions and/or if you are interested in joining us for the next meeting and we will send you an agenda a few days before. If you prefer you can leave a voicemail message at 646-340-4370 and someone will return your call.

Catholic social teaching is a central and essential element of our faith. Its roots are in the Hebrew prophets who announced God's special love for the poor and called God's people to a covenant of love and justice. It is a teaching founded on the life and words of Jesus Christ, who came "to bring glad tidings to the poor . . . liberty to captives . . . recovery of sight to the blind"(Lk 4:18-19), and who identified himself with "the least of these," the hungry and the stranger (cf. Mt 25:45). Catholic social teaching is built on a commitment to the poor. This commitment arises from our experiences of Christ in the eucharist.”
